1、这二者都表示“到达”，但reach 含有克服了困难，经历了艰难险阻的“到达”，arrive则不含这层意思。
2、在搭配上，二者也有不同。Reach直接跟宾语，比如，I reached their house；但arrive可以不跟宾语，比如，I arrived. I arrived there/here/home. 要跟也必须先有介词再跟，如，到达一个地方arrived at a place; 而到达一个country/city，则用arrived in a country/city。
3、"Reach"通常用于描述其它物体或场所。例如，“The ball reached the other side of the field”（球到达了场地的另一边）。
4、"Arrive"则更多用于形容人的行为或状态。例如，“They arrived in New York yesterday”（他们昨天抵达了纽约）。
