February 1, 2006, at which time you may pick up your textbooks. Please make your checks for the class and materials in the amount of $305.00 payable to the Alaska Chapter of the Society of CPCU.

Commercial Underwriting: Liability and Advanced Techniques

This course will cover legal foundations, general liability, commercial auto, workers’

compensation, professional liability, reinsurance, ratemaking, designing underwriting policy, and quantitative techniques for underwriters.

Course information:

Class will be held at Northern Adjusters, Inc., 1401 Rudakof Circle, Anchorage AK 99508 commencing on Wednesday, February 1, 2006, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and continuing on Thursday afternoons from February 7 through May 4, 2006. When you arrive at Northern

Adjusters, please go to the Workers’ Compensation Department conference room on the ground floor.

This is the second course in a series leading to the designation of Associate in Commercial Underwriting (AU). You may earn the designation by taking AU 65, AU 66, and INS 23; or by taking the two AU courses and CPCU 551 (CPCU3) and CPCU 552 (CPCU 4). If you have passed any of the former Associate in Underwriting courses (AU 61, AU 62, AU 63, or AU 64), you can also apply them toward earning the AU designation. Call the AICPCU-IIA Customer Service at 800-644-2101 for complete information.

AU 66 has been designed to complement the underwriting skills you learn on the job. The student will become familiar with helpful information resources and options available to commercial underwriters. He or she will also develop a thought process to guide in writing accounts and considering coverage questions. If you are a new underwriter, AU will give you a solid foundation in good underwriting practices. If you are a veteran, AU will offer you a fresh perspective.
