一、 阅读理解 (本题共计 10 小题 ,每题 10 分 ,共计100分 , ) 1.
You wouldn’t steal a car. You would never rob a bank or pick someone’s pocket. But you may be another kind of thief.
If you have ever bought a disc for 15 yuan or less, then you have helped to rob artists or musicians of their intellectual property rights (知识产权).
Last Thursday was World Intellectual Property Day. Activities to tell people about intellectual property rights were held around the country.
Intellectual property includes inventions, literary and artistic works, names and pictures. They are of little value if they are not read, seen or used.
While the cost of copying discs is very small, authors, singers and actors have to spend a lot of money and time making a new product. That’s why they have the rights to make money from their work So, buying pirated (盗版的) music of Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai is like stealing from them, paying them no respect for their hard work.
If Jay Chou cannot make money from his work, he may not make anything else. But those who make pirated goods are becoming rich without doing any hard work.
The authors should ask for a fair price for their work. Earlier this year there was much talk about how much KTV should pay music companies for using their songs The copyright fee (版权费) also should be fair to users. That’s good for the music’s popularity and society as well.
(1)What is the authors attitude towards protecting intellectual property rights? A.He is for it. B.He is against it.
C.He doesn’t care about it. D.The article doesn’t tell us.
(2)Which of the following do intellectual property rights not cover? A.Inventions.
B.Literary and artistic work. C.Names and pictures. D.Pirated music.
(3)According to the article, which of the following is TRUE? A.Authors should ask for a high price for their work. B.The copyright fee should be fair to users.
试卷第1页,总11页
C.Authors, singers and actors have no rights to make money from their work. D.Buying pirated music of Jay Chou is very good.
(4)What is the best title for the article? A.Rob a Bank B.Copyright Fees
C.Say No to Pirated Music
D.World Intellectual Property Day 2.
The world has many beautiful sounds. We can hear the songs of birds and the laugh of people. We can listen to the cool music and news reports. And it’s all because of our ears! They bring us a world of sounds.
But some people can’t hear any sound at all. Some are born deaf. Others can hear well in their childhood but too many loud sounds hurt their ears later on.
Many people in China can’t hear ordinary sound clearly. A large number of them are children. Most of them are born with good hearing. But six children of every 1,000 have hearing problems when they are born.
A lot of things can cause hearing problems. For example, too much earwax is not good for our hearing. And noise louder than 85 decibels(分贝)can hurt our ears and make us lose our hearing for a short time or even forever.
Hearing is important for all of us. So we should do our best to give our ears special care. Don’t forget to do the following: Try to stay away from places with too much noise. If you have to go, wear earplugs. A pair of good earplugs can cut the noise by 30 decibels.
When swimming, remember to put earplugs into your ears to stop water from getting in. Never put anything sharp into your ears. If you think you have too much earwax, ask your mum or dad to help you clean it out.
Keep these things in mind! Then you won’t be saying “WHAT? WHAT?” when you are older.
(1)In the first paragraph, the writer wants to ______. A.tell us many beautiful sounds B.describe the uses of ears C.explain the kinds
D.show the importance of ears
(2)What does the underlined word “earwax” in Paragraph 4 mean in the passage? A.耳膜 B.耳鸣 C.耳垢 D.耳疾
(3)Hearing problems may be caused by ______. A.a little earwax
B.learning problems at school C.noise louder than 85 decibels
D.earplugs that can only cut noise by 15 decibels
(4)Which of the following is NOT mentioned by the writer? A.Hearing problems caused by diseases. B.People with hearing problems. C.Ways to protect our ears.

Have you ever complained why life is so tiring? Does they sometimes seem dark to you? Are your studies sometimes not successful? Well, friend, cheer up and smile all the time. If you see the world with your warm heart, you’ll find that the whole world smiles at you. While in school, sometimes you are tired of your lessons, but have you ever noticed the happy smile on your teacher’s face when you did a good job?
One day, it is fine. Just before you want to go out, it suddenly starts to rain. Maybe you would feel very sad and start complaining about the weather. But dear friends, why don’t you sit down and listen to the free concert that the nature offers to you? And with the timely rain, crops in the fields will grow better and farmers will have a good harvest.
Although everyone wants to succeed in what he tries to do sometimes failures can’t be
avoided, I think failure is not terrible, and the terrible thing is that we are afraid of it and give up hope. When we face failure we must be confident in ourselves, draw a useful lesson from it and try our best to finish what we have decided to do. As a popular saying goes, “Failure is the mother of success”.
Attitude decides everything. With an optimistic attitude, life is easy and pleasant. Let’s smile at whatever we meet and the whole world will smile at us.

B.their studies are successful
C.they see the world with their heart D.life is tiring

(3)When we face failure, we ______. a. must be confident in ourselves b. shouldn’t be afraid of it c. shouldn’t give up hope d. must ask for help A.a, b, c B.b, c, d C.a, c, d D.a, b, c, d
(4)If there is a timely rain, ______. A.you want to go out
B.you can listen to a concert
C.crops in the fields will grow better D.farmers can’t have a good harvest 4.
Though there are so many passages about positive thinking, few people really understand what it is. Being positive doesn’t mean ignoring what is happening around us. If someone is
试卷第3页,总11页
going through problems or living in a difficult situation, we cannot expect him to ignore his problems and start thinking positively right away.
It is easier to think positively when we are in a comfortable situation, rather than a bad situation. We cannot think positively when we have problems unless we are trained to. No one can speak a foreign language before studying and practicing for some time. The same thing is true about being positive. However saying that everything is going to be all right, smiling for no reason, or ignoring problems without trying to solve them, is not being positive. It is daydreaming.
Positive people expect the best and believe that a bad situation will be improved, but they are also practical people. They look for opportunities and solutions instead of doing nothing. They can improve a bad situation with a positive attitude. They can not only keep thinking of the problem that they face, but they can also refuse to let the problem affect their mind too much. Positive thinking is being hopeful, and hope brings light and happiness into our life. One can just live with a bad attitude or one can try to do one’s best in a bad situation. It is a matter of choice.
(1)When we are in bad situation, it is ______ for us to think positively at once. A.harder B.easier C.quicker D.slower
(2)Which one of the following is being positive? A.Ignoring everything that we are facing. B.Doing nothing but thinking. C.Daydreaming all day. D.Trying to solve problems.
(3)According to the passage, which of the following is not true? A.Being positive can be trained, like earning a language. B.Positive people can look for solutions in bad situations. C.Problems can have a bad influence on positive people. D.Positive thinking is helpful for everyone. 5.
A father and his son went to a kite flying festival. The son was happy when he saw the sky filled with colorful kites. He wanted to fly a kite, too. The father then bought a kite for his son.
The son started to fly the kite. Soon, his kite was high up in the sky. After a while, the son said, “Father, it seems that the string is stopping the kite from flying higher. If we cut it, it will be free and fly even higher. ”Can we cut it?\" The father cut the string up as his son asked. The kite started to go higher. This made the little boy happy.
But then, slowly, the kite started to come down. It soon fell to the ground. The son
was surprised to see this. He asked his father, “I thought that after cutting the string, the kite would fly higher. Why did it fall down?”
\"You helped the kite go up in the right direction using the string. But when you cut the string, it could no longer support the kite,\" the father explained. “The string was not stopping the kite from going higher, but was helping it stay in the sky.”
We may sometimes feel like there are certain things that are holding us back and stopping us from growing. But in fact, these might be the things that support us the most.

I read a message on WeChat recently from a young friend mentioning how busy but happy she was at school. She ended the message with the words: Boom shakalaka! Now, I am familiar with these nonsense words because they come from an old song of a group called Sly and the Family Stone. The words are popular again because they are used in NBA games to describe a wonderful slam dunk (扣篮), and Internet users in China have taken up the words to express their delight when they, or someone else, has done something well.
Boom shakalaka is just one of the many new words and phrases that appear almost daily on WeChat and other Internet platforms. We might even be tempted to say that the Internet is creating a new language But the Ministry of Education isn’t completely happy with this trend. In a report issued last month, it called for regulating some newly coined words and phrases which it considered vulgar (粗俗的). The word it mentioned specifically was “diaosi” or “loser”. The report said, \"similar words amplify (增强) the negative emotions of some Web users and pollute the online community\".
Well, we shouldn’t use vulgar words online or anywhere else, but what troubles me most about online slang and catchphrases is that they become shortcuts for expressing thoughts and they limit our ability to use proper, meaningful language. If your conversation is filled with slang and catchphrases then you’re probably not saying anything interesting or meaningful. And that is my humble opinion. Boom shakalaka!
(1)What does the writer think of the phrase “Boom shakalaka”? A.Great. B.Nonsense. C.Polite. D.Happy.
(2)From Paragraph 2 we know “diaosi” is a ______. A.vulgar word B.polite word
试卷第5页,总11页
C.winner D.loser
(3)Too many slang and catchphrases may make your conversation ______. A.interesting and meaningful B.surprising and exciting C.boring and unmeaningful D.important and necessary
(4)The passage mainly tells us ______. A.not to talk about too much on the Internet B.we should mind our Internet languages C.Internet is creating a new language
D.there will be more people using Internet languages 7.
Have you ever wondered how we know the things that we know? How do we hnow that the stars are really huge balls of fire like the Sun and very far away? And how do we know that the Earth is a smaller ball turning round one of those stars, the Sun?
The key to those questions is “evidence”(证据). Sometimes evidence means actually seeing (or hearing, feeling, smelling…) that something is true. Astronauts have travelled far enough from the Earth to see with their own eyes that it is round. Sometimes our eyes need help. The “evening star” looks like a bright twinkle in the sky, but with a telescope(望远镜)you can see that it is a beautiful ball. Something that you learn by direct seeing (or hearing or feeling…) is called an observation(观察).
Often evidence isn’t just observation on its own, but observation always hides at the back of it. If there’s been a murder, often nobody (except the murderer and the dead person!)
actually observed it. But detectives(侦探)can gather together lots of other observations which may all point towards the suspect(嫌疑犯). If a person’s finger-prints match those found on a knife, this is evidence that he touched it. It doesn’t prove(证明)that he did the murder, but it can help when it’s joined up with lots of other evidence.
Prediction helps to look for evidence. Scientists make a guess about what might be true. For example, if the world is really round, we can predict that any of us, going on and on in the same direction, should eventually find ourselves back where we started.
People sometimes say that you must believe in feelings deep inside, but not all the inside feelings are real evidence.
What can we do about all this? When somebody tells you something that sounds possible, think to yourself: “Is there any evidence for that?” And, next time somebody tells you that something is true, why not say to them: “What kind of evidence is there for that?” Remember, always think carefully before you believe a word.
(1)Why does the writer use the example of a detective in Paragraph 3? A.To explain what prediction is. B.To tell what observation is called. C.To introduce how detectives work.
D.To prove evidence is not just observation.
(2)The underlined “eventually” in Paragraph 4 means ______. A.probably B.finally C.completely D.luckily

Recently, a three-part BBC documentary(纪录片)Are Our Kids Tough Enough? Chinese School has become a hot topic. The TV documentary followed five Chinese teachers who spent a month working with 50 teenagers, aged from 13 to 14 at Bohunt School in the
southern English county of Hampshire. The Chinese teacher used Chinese ways to teach the students instead of British ways.
The first part, broadcast on August 4th, showed the students performing morning exercises, taking part in a long-distance running race and learning how to do eye exercises during breaks.
It was tough on the teachers, because they had to spend a lot of energy and time keeping the noisy students quiet, and the lead teacher complained that the classroom was always made a mess. At the same time, many students complained that the teachers were too strict, the lessons were boring and they found it difficult to get used to the new ways.
The TV documentary causes a debate. Some people say that Chinese teachers are too strict and fail to attract students’ interest. In their opinion, Chinese teachers prefer spoon—
feeding education that will help students pass exams, but it will be useless in the real world. However, supporters say that the Chinese education system can produce hard—working and polite students.
(1)Which of the following was NOT shown in the first part of the documentary? A.Performing morning exercises.
B.Taking part in a long-distance running race. C.Having breakfast with teachers.
D.Learning how to do eye exercises during breaks.
(2)What does the underlined word “debate” in the last paragraph mean? A.A fight in order to get something. B.A fight in order to hurt somebody.
C.A discussion expressing the same opinions. D.A discussion expressing different opinions.
(3)What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.Chinese education system is better than the British one. B.The debate about a BBC documentary. C.British students are very good.

Since last year, short videos have gotten millions of views online. Many people create and share short videos on popular video apps like Douyin and Kuaishou. You can even add music and special effects(特效)to them. The videos are 15 seconds to a few minutes long. They show people all kinds of daily activities like cooking, exercising and singing. Most of the users on the apps are young people, including teenagers.
According to a report by the China National Youth Palace Association(CNYPA), more than 50 percent of the first-and second-year junior high school students say they like watching these short videos. And about 47 percent have posted their own videos.
From the videos, teenagers can see funny and exciting things they wouldn’t usually see. Many teens like to share the interesting things they do with others as well. For example, a 12-year-old user named Xiaoqianyu has posted videos showing her learning jazz dance. This has won a lot of fans for her.
However, the videos can also cause trouble. Many students spend too much time watching them. Because of that, they can’t pay much attention to their studies. Some videos even have something vulgar(低俗的)in them, which isn’t good for teenagers.
Last April, Douyin added a new function(功能)to reduce the time people spend on it. It locks the app if someone uses it for over two hours a day. In the same month, Douyin was asked to delete all the vulgar videos. As for teenagers, it’s OK to use the apps, but remember to avoid being addicted to them.
(1)What does the underlined word “them” refer to? A.The video apps. B.The daily activities. C.The short videos. D.Users of the apps.
(2)A report is mentioned in Paragraph 2 to show that ______. A.more and more teenagers use smartphones B.short videos are very popular among teenagers
C.the CNYPA cares about the healthy development of teenagers
D.on video apps people can not only watch videos but also post theirs
(3)Paragraph 4 mainly talks about ______. A.the trouble teenagers have with their studies B.the bad influence of short videos on teenagers
C.the amount of time teenagers spend on short videos D.the reason why so many teenagers enjoy short videos
(4)What does the underlined word “delete” mean in Chinese? A.拍摄 B.转载 C.更新 D.删除
(5)What’s the main idea of the passage? A.Some videos on popular video apps are vulgar. B.There’s a new function on Douyin, a video app.
C.Short videos are popular, but don’t get lost in them.

If you want to be a better reader, what should you know about the speed of reading? Some people read very quickly, when others read very slowly. But which one is better? The quick reader may be a good reader when he reads a story-book for fun. But he may not be able to slow down to read instructions(说明书)carefully. The slow reader may be a good reader. But he may spend too much time reading a story for fun. So if the reader reads everything quickly, he isn’t really a good reader. If the reader reads everything slowly, he isn’t really a good reader, either. Here are four things to remember about the speed of reading.
Knowing why you are reading will help you to know whether(是否)to read quickly or slowly.
Some things should be read slowly throughout(全文), for example, instructions for making or doing something. Math books, science and story-books are full of important information. You must read these things slowly to understand and remember every important idea.
Some things should be read quickly throughout. Examples are stories for enjoyment, letters from friends, and some news from newspapers.
In some of your reading, you must change your speed from fast to slow and slow to fast. You will need to read some pages quickly and then slow down and do more careful reading when you come to important ideas.
(1)How many tips(建议)about the speed of reading are there in the passage? A.One. B.Two. C.Three. D.Four.
(2)What does the underlined word “speed” mean in the sentence? A.方式 B.过程 C.速度 D.方面
(3)Which following is TRUE?
A.Reading everything quickly is a good reader. B.Reading instructions must be careful. C.A slow reader isn’t a good reader.
D.You must change your speed from fast to slow.
(4)What should you read slowly when you read? A.Letters from friends. B.News from newspapers. C.Picture-books for fun.
D.Important information from story-books.
(5)Which one is the best title? A.How to be a good reader B.How to read quickly C.Reading slowly is better D.Reading is a good hobby
