摘要：N-3-Aminoalkyl propionamides with an ether substituent on the beta carbonatom are prepared by the reaction of analogous N-3- oxohydrocarbon- substitutedamides with an amine in the presence of a reducing agent, preferably hydrogen and ahydrogenation catalyst. The resulting compounds can be converted to acrylamides bypyrolysis in the presence of a strong base. The latter compounds may also be preparedby the reaction of a . beta.,&ggr;-unsaturated amine with an acrylonitrile in the presenceof sulfuric acid. They are useful for improving dyeability of fiber-forming polymers andmay be polymerized to form compositions which are useful in paper manufacture and (intheir quaternized form) are excellent flocculants.
