15. There are many factories and industries which control the amount of pollution they produce, and are very careful to spend money repairing any damage they create.

16. But I do agree that recycling may be the key to helping both sides. 17. What we need is more effective laws to preserve the environment, which still allow the economy to grow.

20. I like the idea of taxing factories that pollute although gettionng them to agree would be difficult.

21. Rapid agriculture and industrial development plus huge population growth has meant that not only is the amount of water taken from the river rising, but the waste being put back into the river has also been increasing.

22. Nor is it good news for the fish and wildlife that live in the river. 23. It has also had harmful effects on the ecology of the area, killing many plants and animals.

24. The organization also watches the river and stops the illegal hunting of animals, which has been a major problem and which has endangered the wild animal population.

25. The projects resulted in farmers replacing the crops on their farmland with trees of grassland.

26. The Yangtze River is home to a diverse range of fish and animals including the white-flag dolphin, a rare Chinese mammal which depends on the Yangtze River for survival.

27. We still have a long way to go to solve all the problems concerning the Yangtze River.

28. We believe that the efforts of the Chinese government and the Chinese people to protect this much-loved river will be appreciated for years to come by future generation.
