摘要：As a web of material travels between a conventional cutting head and an anvilunit a straight cutting edge of a rotating blade of the cutting head presses the webagainst the anvil unit and thereby cuts the web. The cutting edge and the web movetogether at the same rate over the anvil unit. The anvil unit has a plurality of identicalparallel idler rollers resiliently mounted to avoid undercutting or scarring by the cuttingedge and aligned at a relatively large oblique angle with respect to the cutting edge soas to reduce banging of the cutting edge against the anvil unit and thereby reducedulling of the cutting edge. The rollers are arranged side-by-side so that every part ofthe width of the web passes over some part of a roller against which it can be cut by thecutting edge. Perforations or continuous cuts extending across the entire width of theweb can be made.
