13、 A dragonfly, only an inch and a half long, appears to be animal world's best long distance travelerflying thousands of miles overoceans as it moves from continent to continent----- according to a newly published research.Biologists who lead the study say the evidence is in the genes. They found that populations of this dragonfly, called Pantala flavescens, in Texas, eastern Canada, Japan, Korea, India, and South America, have genes so similar that there is only one likely explanation. Obviously these dragonflies are traveling distances that are quite long for their small size, breeding with each other, and creating a common gene pool. But how do dragonflies from different continents manage to meet and breed? Ware says it appears to be the way their bodies have evolved. For example, they increased surface areas on their wings that enable them to use the wind to carry them.
Dragonflies, in fact, have already been found crossing the Indian Ocean from Asia to Africa. \"They are following the weather,\" says Daniel Troast. \"They're going from India where it's dry season to Africa where it's wet season, and they do it once a year.”
Wetness is important for Pantala, and that is why they would take such a dangerous trip. Though many will die on the route, as long as enough make it, the species survives. For the moment, the details of this wonderful insect trip are an educated best guess. Much more work is needed to be done. Ware and Troast hope that scientists can work on figuring out those routes.
1.What shows Pantala flavescens are the world’s longest-distance flyers? A.Scientists have recorded the dragonfly across the world. B.The same dragonfly was found both in Asia and America. C.There are many Pantala flavescens in different continents. D.Pantala fiavescens in different continents have similar genes. 2.What may help Pantala flavescens fly over so long distance? A.Their special body shape. C.Their small and light body.
B.Their special and strong wings. D.Their strong sense of direction.
3.What is necessary for Pantala flavescens to breed? A.Wet weather.
B.Warm places.
C.Dry environment. D.Enough sunshine.
4.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.Scientists have found the details of the trip. B.Dragonflies leave India because of the dry season.
C.Dragonflies can hardly survive after such a dangerous trip. D.The dragonfly is animal world's best short distance traveler.

14、Tanzania Tarangire is a national Park which lies in Tanzania. The park itself covers an area of around 2,850 square kilometers, making it the sixth largest park of its kind in the country.I recently visited Tarangire to see what it was like.
One of the first sightings upon entering the park which I found was a huge group
of elephants. Our guide told us that Tagrangire was probably the best place in Tanzania to find large group of elephants, and that their population in the park was around 2,1.We continued to watch the elephants as they stood under trees and scratched themselves against the trees to hit the spot of an itch. To the right of the elephant group, we noticed a big tree! Our guide informed us that this was a Baobab tree and that they could live for hundreds of years.Compared with this tree, the elephant just looked like dwarfs (much smaller plants or animals)! We were informed that Tarangire was one of the best National Parks in Africa to see so many Baobab trees.
As we continued our drive through the park, we finally reached a watering hole. Our guide warned us that there were lions all around us.It took us all a while to find them, but there they were! Most of them are resting in the shade under bushes, but there was one that was drinking from the watering hole directly in front of us.We then noticed just to our right, there were a couple of fresh zebra bodies — it seemed as if the lions which were resting had killed them! We were unlucky not to have seen the kill, as our guide had mentioned that the zebra bodies were fresh and the kill had happened within the last hour.
Our final big sighting was one that none of us were expecting to see, even our guide! We stopped at a place where there were quite a many cars, with a sleeping leopard(美洲豹)there! We took photos and watched its surprising body before returning to our hotel as it was getting late.
So, I hope you enjoyed my description of Tarangire, and add this amazing park to your very own Tanzania travel route. 2.Which statement is correct about the park? A.It covers an area of about 2,580 square kilometers. B.It is the largest park of its kind in the country. C.Their population in the park was around 2,000.
D.There are a lot of Baobab trees in the park. 3.What does the underlined part in paragraph 2 infer?
A.They moved their bodies against the trees to solve the skin problem. B.They rested under the trees, doing nothing, just for killing the time. C.They helped each other to knock down the dirty things on their bodies D.They guarded their baobab trees, fighting the terrible leopards and lions. 4.What does the passage possibly tell us? A.A Page from Tanzania Tourist Diary. C.A Visit to Tarangire National Park.
B.Animals and Plants in Tarangire Park. D.Protecting Animals and Environment.

17、For a long time being happy was considered something that just happened, and there was nothing special about it.Now we know that getting along with other people is something that we can work at.It is possible to act in such a way that other people will like us better. One way is being unselfish, not wanting everything from our friends.Another way is to look for good points, not bad points in other people. It is surprising how successful this treasure hunt can be. You do not have to be spineless(优柔寡断的) in order to be popular. In fact, you will be liked or loved if you are not afraid to stand up for your rightsBut do it politely and pleasantly.Being friendly and polite to your group,(正当行为).to other people and to strangers and especially to those who do not look important or do not interest you is one way to develop a good character.
You cannot expect to be perfect, and you must learn not to be unhappy when you make mistakes.Everyone makes mistakes, and no one is to be blamed if he does not refuse to learn from them. Many young people become discouraged when they know in themselves qualities that they do not like-selfishness,laziness,and other unpleasant (灰心丧气的)
qualities.Just remember that we all have some of these faults(缺点) and have to fight against them.
At the same time,it is important to remember that while you are probably no worse than others, the best way to be happy is to think yourself above other people. When something is wrong,it is good sense to try to make it right.Perhaps you do not like a teacher or a classmate.Try to see why,and look at yourself, too,to be sure that you are not doing anything to make that person dislike you. Some day, things may turn out all right when you have to learn to get along the best with the situation, without thinking too much about it.Worrying never helps in a situation you cannot change. 1.One of the two ways the writer suggests for us to get along with others is to ____. A.work hard at everything we do B.enjoy the best share of everything C.look for treasure in order to be successful
D.pay more attention to their strong points
2.If a person wants to be popular,he or she has to____. A.be polite and friendly B.give up some rights
C.get away arguing with other people D.be ready to change his or her character
3.There is no person but someone should be blamed if he or she A.is modest and generous
B.does not draw a lesson from his or her own mistake C.is selfish and lazy
D.is very happy with unpleasant quality
4.The purpose for the writer to write the passage is to A.train you to be perfect B.show you the way to be happy
C.tell you how to act when you dislike a person D.teach you how to be popular among your friends

18、Recently, some Chinese experts advised people to be more careful about making a “V” gesture (手势) while taking a photo, because the fingerprints(指纹) might be stolen.
It is possible. If the distance(距离) between the person and the smart phone is less than half a meter, the possibility of the fingerprint being stolen will be bigger.Having fingerprints stolen can cause a lot of trouble, as they are used in many things, including ID cards, passports and online payments. So it’s a must to pay attention to the protection of them and avoid them being spread on the Internet.
This kind of discussion was first raised by a Japanese research center, the National Institute of Informatics. Zeng Qiaoyi, 19, who likes sharing selfies(自拍) on WeChat, said she was also worried about it.She said she seldom posted pictures with “V” gestures and most pictures she shared were made to be not so clear by certain software.“ I blur the backgrounds in selfies, hoping to hide my location,” she added.
Tan Tieniu, a scientist, said at the 2016 China National Computer Congress that using fingerprints instead of passwords or voice identification is far from safe, compared with face recognition (识别).
But a police officer from Jiangsu Province said locals didn’t need to be overly anxious, because the cameras of many cell phones were not clear enough, and the shooting distance of most photos taken by cameras was too far.
1.What did some Chinese experts suggest?
A.Not taking a photo with a camera. B.Not showing your fingerprints. C.Not protecting the fingerprints. D.Not sharing the photo on WeChat. 2.Why should we avoid spreading the fingerprints? A.Because they can be used on online payments. B.Because they can be used to share locations. C.Because they can be used to call the police. D.Because they can be used to take selfies.
3.What does the underlined word “blur” mean in Chinese?
A.(使)变可爱 B.(使)变清晰 C.(使) 变美白 D.(使)变模糊 4.According to Tan Tieniu, which was much safer?
A.Fingerprints. B.Face recognition. C.Passwords. D.Voice identification. 5.This article may come from ________.
