摘要：A graphical user interface is used to design hospital patient request responseprotocols—wherein information and messages are provided on patient and providerdevices responsive to patient and provider inputs to those devices. A protocol designer
interacting with the graphical user interface is enabled to bring into a protocol designspace tiles representing steps of a hospital patient request response protocol underdesign. Ones of the tiles represent tools, such as “Assign Owner,” and “Timer” tools.Others represent respective computer systems external to the system on which theprotocol itself will execute, such as staff management systems and/or electronic medicalrecord systems. The protocol designer is also enabled to bring into the protocol designspace connections that define an order for performing the various steps. The protocol isexecuted by a workflow engine, the protocol being initiated in response to a requestentered on a patient device.
