In the age of television, the importance of reading books is more or less changing a certain influence. Though people seems to prefer enjoy entertainment before the television, instead of spending leisure time in reading books as we did in the past, it is of no reason and ridiculous to conclude that TV could provide the same knowledge as reading books.

Admittedly, the television' role is more and more important in today's complex and rapidly changed world. The television show have already

become the most popular entertainment of leisure time, most people choose watching TV as a form of relax, especially those people who work for a whole day, view television as their major entertainment programs. In addition, the news on television in real-time can also satisfy those people who care about politics and business. It is the primary way to enhance popularity and attract more people's attention for those public figures and business firms. The speech of political leaders on screen might bring them more support from people, which is particulate in elections.

However, the important role of reading books has not been influenced in today's life, though TV had occupied most of people's leisure time. Firstly, the books, as a major form of education in school, would still have a pretty long period in future, which would persist almost the entire human's early

education period. People have already been used to attain basic knowledge through reading books. Secondly, the books are smaller and lighter,

convenient for carring any where when someone decides to tour. Reading books on plane, bus or ship would be a good idea for relax. I believe that no one would carry television in their pocket during their journey.

Last but not least, in today's life, as two important media that can supply for each other, television and books could provide people's life with more convenience and entertainment. On the one hand, television, as the major entertainment and news sources, would provide people a completely relax after a heavily working day and the latest information from the other side of the earth. On the other hand, reading books would promise people the basic technology and knowledge for living, which would help them to solve the ideal problems and practical ones in their later life.

In summary, television and reading books have their different roles in

people's life today, they teach people different information and knowledge about different fields and types, which are both necessary for people' life.

Only a balanced view about this issue would be reasonable and logical for the development of human and society.
