【篇⼀】Unit 15 Not on a school night

Lucy： Mum, I'm going to the cinema tomorrow. Do you mind if I stop over at Flora's house afterwards?

Karen： Yes, I do mind! I want you to be back here by 9.30 at the latest. Lucy： 9.30! The film doesn't finish till 10! I won'tbe able to go!

Can't you or Dad pick me up outside the cinema? Please! Karen： No, I'm sorry, Lucy. Not on a school night.

Lucy： But Mum! Everybody's going! Karen： I'll be surprised if everyone is going. You've got school next day. 9.30 islate enough.

Lucy： Oh, Mum!

Karen： Look, Lucy! You have a lot of freedom. Your father and I work all day, and we pick you up, late at night, a coupleof times a week.

That's fine at weekends, but not during the week.

Karen： As far as I'm concerned, you may not stay out later than 9:30 on a school night.Lucy： Flora's mother lets her go out.

Karen： And we let you go out — but not on a school night!

Karen： I'll be surprised if Flora stays out late in the week. You may go to the cinema on Friday. And I'll pick you upoutside the cinema at ten o'clock.

露西：妈妈，明天我要去看电 影。 我看完电 影后去弗洛拉家呆⼀会⼉你介意吗？

卡伦：我当然介意！你最晚9：30就要回来。 露西：9：30！电 影10点才结束！那我就去不成了！

你和爸爸难道不能去电 *门⼝接我吗？求您了！ 卡伦：很抱歉，不⾏，露西。如果第⼆天有课，晚上就不⾏。露西：但是，妈妈！每个⼈都会去！ 卡伦：如果每个⼈都去的话可就奇怪了。你们第⼆天有课。 9：30已经够晚了。露西：噢，妈妈！

卡伦：看，露西！你有很多⾃由。你爸爸和我⽩天⼯作，⼀星期有⼏天都很晚才接你。周末你可以晚回家，但平时可不⾏。

卡伦：在我看来如果第⼆天有课，你晚上就不能在外⾯呆到晚于9：30。露西：弗洛拉的妈妈就让她出去。

卡伦：我们也让你出去呀——只是第⼆天有课就不⾏！

卡伦：如果弗洛拉平时可以在外⾯呆到很晚那可就奇怪了。你星期五可以去看电 影。我会l0点到电 *门⼝接你。
